Rules and Regulations

General Information:

The Officers, the Board of Governors, the General Manager, and the employees wish to make the Clubhouse a pleasant place for all members to enjoy within the bounds of the Club Rules.

The best way to do this is to acquaint yourself with all its activities and participate in the ones which appeal most to you.  Please familiarize yourself with and observe these simple rules which are designed to help you enjoy your club.

These rules are intended not to impose any undue restrictions and exist solely to enable the membership to obtain the maximum benefit from our facilities.

Violators of these rules may be penalized as provided by the By-Laws of the Club and as recommended by the Board of Governors.

We do not expect or desire any member to personally correct a fellow member who may be violating a GVCC rule.

We do, however, ask and encourage members to report violations of the rules and regulations to a member of the GVCC Management Team or to a member of the GVCC Board of Governors as follows:

Upon witnessing an infraction of the rules & regulations, members are asked to contact a member of the GVCC Management Team and allow them to witness the situation first hand.

If the above is not possible, members are asked to present in writing to the Board of Governors or GVCC Management Team, specific information which outlines the violation which they witnessed such as: what rule was violated, date, time, where the infraction took place, who was involved in the infraction and if willing, who witnessed the violation.

The Board of Governors and\or GVCC Management Team will take the appropriate measures as deemed plausible at that point in time. The Board of Governors and GVCC Management Team will take every measure possible to ensure the anonymity of the person reporting violations, however, members are asked to understand that in certain situations this may be impossible to achieve.

CLUB POLICY ON ALCOHOL SERVICE:  Appropriate alcohol service is a matter of interest to all members of the Club who share a mutual desire that such service be consistent not only with proper decorum but also with the law.  Therefore, this policy has been established by the Club in a desire to benefit members, their guests, and staff and to bring into focus their respective responsibilities.

The Club policy shall be not to serve alcoholic beverages to any minor person or to one who, by such service, might tip the scale from sobriety to intoxication.  Such policy shall apply to Club members, the member's family and guests.  Identification cards will be requested of anyone who appears to be a minor person.  A minor person is considered to be anyone under the age of 21 years.

IMPLEMENTATION OF POLICY:  The General Manager shall be responsible through means which he considers appropriate for instructing Locker Room Attendants, Bartenders, Waiters and Waitresses in making initial determination of excessive alcohol consumption by an individual.  When such determination has been made, the staff person shall communicate with the General Manager.  If possible, the General Manager shall personally observe the individual concerned.  The General Manager shall then make the decision to cease or not to cease service to such person.  He shall communicate a decision to cease service in a diplomatic manner to the individual concerned if he is a member; or, if he is a guest, to his host member, who shall be responsible in turn for advising his guest.  Staff may call upon any member for guidance or assistance, but staff and the General Manager are ultimately responsible for determining whether to cease or not to cease serving.  In the absence of the General Manager, Locker Room Attendants, Bartenders, Waiters and Waitresses shall report on this matter to the Manager on Duty, who will fulfill the duties of the General Manager, including the determination to cease or not to cease service to any person.  In the absence of the Manager on Duty, Locker Room Attendants, Bartenders, Waiters and Waitresses shall report on this matter to the Senior Staff Member, who will fulfill the duties of the General  and/or Manager on Duty, including the determination to cease or not to cease service to any person.  The staff and management is empowered to take whatever action may be necessary for the safety of any member or guest who has been judged intoxicated to include but not limited to calling and paying for a taxi and charging the fare to the member's bill; requesting the intoxicated person's car keys; seeking aid from another member in seeing the intoxicated person gets home safely; driving the intoxicated person home in a staff person's car (member to be charged $50.00 service charge); or calling the police to assist in seeing the member gets home safely.
