SENIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION
History: 1977-1986

Grayson Valley Country Club, The Country Club East, is located between Center Point and Trussville, Alabama on Chalkville Mountain Road and is built on the original old Carraway Dairy Farm.  It's location is convenient to Birmingham via I-59.  The club is approximately twelve minutes from downtown Birmingham.

Grayson Valley Country Club was formed in the early spring of 1976.  In October 1977, Ronald J. Moore, Marvin Ratcliff and Joe F. Yarborough formed the G.V. Corporation and purchased the property and golf facility.

An aggressive plan was put into place including the expanding of the membership from 39 members in 1977 to the filling of the membership in 1986.  Almost every phase of the Golf Course has been rebuilt or redesigned.  John Lafoye, a nationally recognized golf course architect was commisioned to oversee the operation.  In the fall of 1984, all of the greens were rebuilt with the new Penn Cross Bent grass.  Each green, tee and fairway was equipped with an automatic sprinkler system and the most modern golf course equipment was acquired to maintain the course. Over 500 native and Hybrid trees were planted throughout the course area.

The clubhouse and clubhouse grounds went under renovation during the fall of 1985.  Included in this expansion was the construction of a new cart building facility and the addition of a new swimming pool sun deck and remolding of the pool area.
